AREA ACTION PLAN TO BE CONSIDERED IN 2008

Mid Sussex District Council expects to consider the revised East Grinstead Area Action Plan submission document in early 2008.

In July, Mid Sussex District Council agreed the key elements to be included in the Area Action Plan submission document, including a single route for the East Grinstead relief road and a comprehensive package of transport improvements.

The Council is continuing to work with Government agencies and neighbouring authorities and it will consider the revised document in early 2008, rather than October as originally planned. If approved, the document will then be submitted to the Secretary of State.

Councillor Gordon Marples, Leader of Mid Sussex District Council, said:

“While this delay in finalising the Area Action Plan for submission is regrettable, we recognise we need to consider how the Plan fits with increasing housing requirements set for the District as a whole and to look at the possible alternatives. We need to continue to work with our neighbouring authorities and other agencies to resolve any outstanding issues.”
